Hands Offering Support

Safety & Ethics

Supporting the brain’s natural ability to adapt and self-regulate

At Brainfit, safety, clarity, and ethical practice are fundamental to how we work. Neurofeedback is offered as a supportive, non-invasive approach designed to help the brain function more efficiently — not as a medical or psychological treatment.

We believe people should have clear, honest information about what neurofeedback is, what it is not, and how it is used responsibly.

A Non-Invasive Approach

NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® is non-invasive and does not involve:

  • Medication

  • Electrical stimulation

  • Diagnosis or medical intervention

  • Active mental effort

The sensors used during sessions simply read information from the scalp. They do not send signals into the brain, and nothing is introduced into the body.

Feedback is provided through sound, allowing the brain to respond naturally.

Supporting, Not Treating

Brainfit does not diagnose or treat medical or psychological conditions.

Neurofeedback is offered as a supportive approach that may be used alongside other forms of care, including therapy, medical treatment, rehabilitation, or coaching.

Many people choose neurofeedback as part of a broader approach to wellbeing, performance, or recovery.

Suitable for a Wide Range of People

Because Dynamical Neurofeedback® does not impose protocols or target specific symptoms, it can be used by people of different ages, backgrounds, and goals.

We work with:

  • Individuals and families

  • Children and young people

  • Athletes and performers

  • Professionals and organisations

Where appropriate, we always encourage open communication with healthcare or educational professionals involved in a person’s care.

Informed Choice

We believe people should be able to make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

Before beginning training, we explain:

  • What neurofeedback is and how it works

  • What to expect from sessions

  • How training is typically structured

  • Any questions or concerns you may have

There is no pressure to continue training, and sessions can be paused or stopped at any time.

A Respectful, Individualised Approach

Every brain is different. We do not impose protocols, targets, or expectations.

Our role is to provide a supportive environment and clear guidance while allowing the process to unfold naturally. We respect each person’s pace, preferences, and circumstances.

Professional Standards

Brainfit operates in accordance with recognised professional and ethical standards for neurofeedback practice. This includes:

  • Using certified NeurOptimal® systems

  • Maintaining appropriate training and professional development

  • Delivering sessions responsibly and transparently

  • Providing clear communication and support

As an official UK representative and instructor in NeurOptimal®, Brainfit is committed to maintaining high standards of practice and education.

Privacy and Confidentiality

We treat all personal information with care and discretion.

Information shared during consultations or training is handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

We do not share personal information without consent, except where required by law.

When Neurofeedback May Not Be Appropriate

In some situations, we may recommend discussing neurofeedback with a healthcare professional before beginning training, particularly where there are complex medical conditions or recent neurological events.

Our priority is always to act responsibly and in the best interests of the people we support.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Providing clear, honest information

  • Practising responsibly and ethically

  • Respecting individual differences

  • Supporting people in a calm, non-judgemental way

Safety and integrity are not an addition to our work — they are part of its foundation.
